FAQ
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle?
Every motorcycle move is different. Costs depend on distance, route, transport type, access, and any additional requirements. At Breakwells, we provide individual quotes tailored to your journey, so you’ll always know exactly what’s included before we collect your bike.
How long does shipping take?
Delivery times are estimates (not guarantees under the RHA Conditions). As a guide:
- Local/Regional: Usually within a couple of days
- Cross-UK: A few days
- Offshore: Longer, depending on ferry schedules, customs, and routing
We confirm expected windows when you book and keep you updated.
Do I need to prepare my motorcycle?
Yes, there are a few things you must do to prepare your motorbike for transit. Please:
- Clean the bike and take photos
- Remove/secure loose items
- Leave only minimal fuel
- Check tyres and battery
- Provide required documents (V5C, ID, etc.)
By default, customers are responsible for safe loading/unloading unless agreed otherwise.
Is insurance included?
We include standard liability cover under RHA Conditions, which has limits and exclusions. For higher-value bikes, we can arrange additional cover if agreed at booking.
What’s the difference between open vs enclosed transport?
When it comes to open and enclosed transportation, it refers to the type of trailer that is used:
- Open: More economical, but exposed to weather/road debris
- Enclosed: Higher cost, maximum protection, recommended for classics or high-value bikes
At Breakwells, we focus on enclosed trailers to help keep your motorcycle protected and secure in transit.
Can I ship internationally?
